Kate Stone Lombardi
Kate has been a journalist for more than 25 years. Her work has appeared in the National, Metro, Style, Education and Regional sections of the New York Times. She also wrote the popular “County Lines” column about the suburbs and was a frequent contributor to the ‘Generations” column, which covered family life.
Her work has also appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Reader’s Digest, Time.com, AARP Magazine, AARP’s The Ethel, Ladies Home Journal and Good Houskeeping.
Kate is also the author of THE MAMA’S BOY MYTH: How Keeping Our Sons Close Makes Them Stronger (Avery/Penguin). The book was featured in multiple national publications and blogs, and Kate was a guest on ABC, MSNBC, Fox and Friends, WNYC’s “Brian Lehrer Show and other programs to discuss gender issues raised in the book.
She is the recipient of six Clarion awards for Journalism from Women in Communications as well as the Art of Communication award from Victims Assistance Services.
Kate has taught writing in a variety of settings, including The Hudson Valley Writers Center, The Coachman Family Center, which serves homeless families in Westchester County, N.Y., and both Green Haven Correctional Facility and Sing Sing Correctional Facility, maximum security prisons in New York State.
Kate received a BA from Williams College and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University. She is the mother of two adult children and has one grandchild. She lives with her husband Michael and two highly annoying cats in Westchester County, New York.
