Clinton Thanks Staff at Westchester Hospital

VALHALLA, N.Y., Dec. 23 – Describing himself as “the personification of a grateful patient,” former President Bill Clinton returned to the Westchester Medical Center here on Thursday to thank the doctors and other staff members for the care they provided when his heart disease was first diagnosed.

Mr. Clinton, looking slim and somewhat tired, told his doctors he was feeling well. “I told them I was really delighted I walked in here instead of coming in a wheelchair and I’m even more delighted to be able to walk out,” he said.

Mr. Clinton, 58, first arrived at the medical center in September after complaining of chest pains. An angiogram showed several severely clogged arteries. Mr. Clinton recalled being shown “this really ugly picture of all this blockage I had.”
