JOHNATHAN SANTIAGO, 17, was discussing his future with his mother one Saturday not long ago.
Like many high school seniors, Johnathan is waiting to hear about college admissions. He has been accepted to Lehman College in the Bronx, but is holding out for his ”dream school,” Purchase College.
An outgoing young man with a mouth full of braces, Johnathan hopes to major in drama, though he also writes poetry and loves working with his hands. He said his application essay was ”about overcoming the challenges in my life.”
